Not All Moonshine Is Created Equal

The World’s Best Moonshine is artfully crafted from a unique blend of corn, red wheat and barley that are sourced locally in the Carolinas. We use time-honored distillation techniques that were passed down from generation to generation, going back to America’s early settlers. Unlike high volume spirit products, our batches are hand-mashed and twice-distilled in a unique, hand-made Scots-Irish copper pot still.

The result is a classic corn whiskey that goes down remarkably smooth, packed with a rich, buttery kettle corn aroma, highlighting notes of farm-fresh sweet cream and toasted spice on the palate.

With every sip you savor a true Blue Ridge tradition. You just know that you are drinking The World’s Best Moonshine!

“Nice, long and drying finish with lasting notes of buttered popcorn.”

Attractive aromas of acacia honey, caramel corn, and pudding pie with a graham cracker crust with a silky, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a long, warming, sweet spices, anise cookie, and mineral finish. Amazing smooth and balanced at proof with great subtle sweet corn flavors. Great moonshine.

Spirits Journal Review

2013

Better than many craft and mainstream unaged grain spirits that are regrettably masquerading as whiskeys, which they are not.

Heritage

The World’s Best Moonshine has a 175 year history that started in South Carolina’s Appalachian hills, known as the Dark Corner. Scots, Irish, Cornish, and Welsh settled the area bringing with them the ancient Celtic knowledge of distilling grains to make “the water of life”. When a Federal excise tax was levied against home distilleries after the Civil War, the defiant Celtic settlers moved their stills deep into the woods to avoid the Tax Revenuers. Operating only at night to hide the smoke from their stills, the term “Moonshine” was introduced and a true American corn whiskey was born.

It is a 14 foot Gothic arch stone structure and stretches 130 feet over Little Gap Creek. Historians believe that is was designed by Robert Mills, architect of the Washington Monument.
